The weather this morning was very dreary, so this is just a shot showing how work is going on in the Rose Garden of Priory Park. Most of the one side of the new paving is complete, and they have started on the second side now.

New slabs on a path in the Rose Garden

It's great to see that new slabs are now being put down in the Rose Garden in Priory Park. This is what I would describe as an "Estate Agent's" view, ie a wide angle shot, which makes the Rose Garden look bigger than it really is!

Such a lot is happening at the moment!

I received an email yesterday evening from Senior Park Ranger Lydia Allt (belated congratulations Lydia) to let me know that today there would be some major developments on the Pavilion. The excavation work is apparently now complete, and they were pouring concrete.

The equipment they were using was quite impressive - below is a fish-eye lens view.

But that's not all! Yesterday a new noticeboard was put up close to the Pavilion. When I arrived early today it was empty, and covered in dew, but within a few minutes Lydia had put some information in there, and I wiped the moisture away (the handkerchief has had to be put in the wash). Only a little later people were looking at the notices (and/or admiring the new noticeboard)!

Although nothing was happening in the Rose Garden while I was there today, hard core has been put down on some of the area where slabs have been removed, and the central path is open (although I suspect it may need to be closed again temporarily while further work is carried out).

Finally, my apologies for the quality of the photos - the light was very difficult (low sun, bright sun and deep shadow, and visibility was not all that good, especially early in the day).

Progress in the park

Despite the weather conditions (I don't envy the people doing the work), good progress is being made with the improvements. Just at the moment the paths through the Rose Garden are/may be closed, while diggers and dumper trucks are operating there. As the second photo show, a lot of work has been done behind the pavilion, and also at the sides.

February Newsletter

The monthly Newsletter produced by the Park Rangers and Dudley MBC is a useful source of information about the park, and is delivered locally every month. I just received (10 minutes ago) the February issue, and it provides more information on the improvements which are currently being carried out in the park.

Another article in this issue refers to dog fouling. This used to be a dreadful problem, but has improved quite a lot recently, at least until the snow - now the snow has cleared, we hope that the situation will improve again.

As usual, a number of activities in February are listed, including Nest Box Building on 22nd, Mobile Making on 23rd, Bike Rides for women on 12th and 26th, and Tennis Coaching every Wednesday. Please see the Newsletter regarding times and booking arrangements.

Many thanks to the Rangers for producing and distributing the Newsletter.
